Jeff Bailey Reviews I Wake The Dead In Westerlin Park by Ayden Lockwood
Not too many things are better than well done paranormal fiction, and I Wake the Dead in Westerlin Park by Ayden Lockwood delivers. It’s sharp and well-paced. There are no lags in the pace of the story. The added atmosphere of the old south (think Fried Green Tomatoes) is rich with a South Florida flavor. It’s spooky without needing a bloody hand reaching out of a cabinet. I think that the subtle humor adds a nice balance. The main characters, Holly and Nick, feel like old friends, and have a believable chemistry. As they are cleaning the tombstones of Holly’s family graveyard in Florida, they are noticed and come under the protection of two of Holly’s family ghosts. Ayden inserts his love for the splendor of the ocean, the magic of film and theater, and the joy of lifelong learning into his stories. I mean anybody that likes Hockey can’t be all bad. Five full stars.

Jeff Bailey Reviews The Positive Trait Thesaurus by Angela Ackerman and Becca Puglisi.
Conspiracy thrillers are my all-time favorite genre to read partly because I’m a conspiracy thriller writer and partly because I just like a well thought-out, twisty, conspiracy. AJ Blanc delivers. In Pandora’s Gift, several government intelligence agencies are trying to take the lead in the investigation into the death of an American intelligence operative. No, it’s not just another unsupported rivalry between agencies. The operative worked for each agency, on the same project, but from different perspectives. The urgency stems from the possibility of releasing ‘Skynet’s’ evil big brother (look it up). The order: destroy everything immediately, if you can find it.The rivalry was imminently believable. The characters were as solid and real as any I’ve met in my reading. The premise of Pandora’s Gift was so contemporary that the whole subject matter seems to be in the news every day. Lastly, AJ Blanc’s novel seems to ask the question, “What could go wrong?’ Way to take events out of today’s news and craft a superb thriller.
I highly recommend AJ Blanc and all his thrillers. I’m on to another one. Five stars.

Jeff Bailey Reviews The Obsidian Dagger by Brad Lamar
Excellent, engrossing, and so real. The Obsidian Dagger by Brad LaMar is an action fantasy that follows a family to Ireland and Scotland in search of their family roots. The teenage brother and sister find more than they bargained for. The tale is classic good versus evil with a twist that will blur the lines. I only know a little about the folklore of Ireland and Scotland, but this story seemed to be true to the legends. That made it all the more enjoyable. LaMar is a master of dialog and captured the teen-speak perfectly. I’d swear that These are the teenagers from up the street in my neighborhood. I’m glad to see that this is a series because I see a whole lot more story to tell. For me, Brad LaMar and The Obsidian Dagger is pure five star fun.
